FAQ Solid Dish Soap

What is solid dish soap?

Solid dish soap is a concentrated soap bar designed specifically for washing dishes, pots, pans and kitchen utensils.

How do I use solid dish soap?

Wet your dish brush, sponge or cloth and rub it directly onto the soap bar. Wash dishes as normal and rinse thoroughly.

Does solid dish soap cut through grease?

Yes. Our recipe includes coconut oil, which helps create a rich cleansing lather that effectively removes grease and food residue.

Is solid dish soap better than liquid dishwashing detergent?

Both can clean dishes effectively. Many people choose solid dish soap because it contains simple ingredients, lasts a long time and helps reduce plastic waste.

How long does a bar last?

This depends on how often it is used and how it is stored. When allowed to dry between uses, a solid dish soap bar can last for many weeks or even months.

Can I use it on pots and pans?

Yes. Solid dish soap is suitable for washing pots, pans, plates, bowls, cutlery and most everyday kitchen items.

Can I use it with a dish brush?

Yes. It works particularly well with dish brushes, reusable cloths and kitchen sponges.

Does it contain synthetic fragrances?

No. Our Solid Dish Soap is free from synthetic fragrances.

Is it safe for septic systems?

Yes. Soap-based cleaning products are generally considered suitable for most septic systems when used as directed.

Why is sodium hydroxide listed in the ingredients?

Sodium hydroxide (lye) is required to make soap. During the soap-making process it reacts with the oils and fats to create soap. When properly made and cured, no lye remains in the finished bar.

Why do you use tallow?

Tallow has been used in soap making for centuries. It creates a hard, long-lasting bar with a stable lather and excellent cleaning properties.

What makes your dish soap different?

Healing Season Solid Dish Soap is handmade in Tasmania using tallow, coconut oil and castor oil. We focus on simple ingredients and traditional soap-making methods.

How should I store my dish soap?

For the longest life, store your dish soap on a draining soap dish or in a dish soap pot that allows excess water to drain away.

Does solid dish soap leave residue on dishes?

When used correctly and rinsed thoroughly, it should leave dishes clean and free from residue.

Is it handmade?

Yes. Every bar is handmade in Tasmania in small batches.

Where is it made?
