What is tallow balm?
Tallow balm is a rich, water-free moisturiser made from rendered beef tallow and nourishing oils. It has been used for generations as a traditional way to moisturise and protect the skin.
What is tallow balm used for?
Many people use tallow balm as an everyday moisturiser for the face, hands and body. It is commonly applied to areas that feel dry, such as elbows, knees, feet and cuticles.
Can I use tallow balm on my face?
Yes. Many people include tallow balm as part of their facial skincare routine. Because it is highly concentrated, only a small amount is usually needed.
As with any new skincare product, we recommend patch testing first.
Is tallow balm suitable for everyday use?
Yes. Many people use tallow balm once or twice a day as part of their regular skincare routine.
How much tallow balm should I use?
A little goes a long way.
For most areas, a pea-sized amount is enough. Warm it between your fingertips before gently massaging it into your skin.
Is tallow balm greasy?
Tallow balm has a richer texture than many lotions because it contains no added water.
When applied sparingly, it absorbs well into the skin. Applying too much may leave excess balm sitting on the surface.
Can I use tallow balm on dry hands?
Absolutely.
Many people enjoy applying tallow balm to their hands after washing or before bed to help keep them feeling soft and moisturised.
Can I use tallow balm on dry feet?
Yes.
Applying tallow balm before bed and wearing cotton socks overnight is a popular way to moisturise dry feet.
Safety Tip: If you apply tallow balm before bed, your feet may still feel slightly slippery when you first get up. Take care when walking on smooth floors.
Does tallow balm contain water?
No.
Healing Season tallow balms are completely water-free, making them a concentrated moisturiser that only requires a small amount per application.
Why doesn't tallow balm need preservatives?
Because our balms do not contain added water, they don't require the same type of preservatives commonly used in water-based lotions and creams.
How should I store my tallow balm?
Store your balm in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
During very hot weather, it may soften naturally. If this happens, simply place it in a cool location until it firms again.
Does tallow balm expire?
Like most natural skincare products, tallow balm has a shelf life.
For the best experience, use your balm within the recommended period shown on the product label and store it correctly between uses.
Can children use tallow balm?
Many families choose simple moisturisers for everyday skincare. If using any skincare product on young children, we recommend consulting a healthcare professional if you have any concerns and patch testing before regular use.
Is tallow balm scented?
Some of our balms are naturally scented with pure essential oils or botanical infusions, while others have little or no added fragrance.
Please refer to each individual product page for ingredients and scent details.
